Beyond 7 Billion

Los Angeles Times staff photojournalist Rick Loomis traveled across Africa and Asia with writer Kenneth R. Weiss to document the causes and consequences of rapid population growth. They visited Kenya, Uganda, China, the Philippines, India, Afghanistan and other countries. The resulting document, told below in short documentaries and still images, paints a picture that illustrates a deepening world crisis that is occurring as a direct result of population growth.
